Association of COL1A1 Sp1-binding site polymorphism with susceptibility to pelvic organ prolapse: a meta-analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction: Growing studies explored the association of polymorphism in C0L1A1 Sp1-binding site with susceptibility to pelvic organ prolapse (POP), but the results have remained controversial and conflicting. To investigate the effect of COL1A1 Sp1-binding site polymorphism on POP, we performed a meta-analysis. Methods: We searched PubMed and HuGE for case-control studies concerning the association between COL1A1 Sp1-binding site polymorphism and POP from 1980 to July 1, 2015. Pooled analysis of the data in qualified reports has been performed by Stata 12.0. Result: In all, four published case-control studies including 698 participants were contained in quantitative syntheses. In the overall meta-analysis, an increased POP risk was detected in the heterozygous model of COL1A1 Sp1-binding site polymorphisms (GT vs. GG: OR=1.43, 95% CI, 1.02-2.00, P=0.040). Conclusion: The overall results suggest that COL1A1 Sp1-binding site polymorphisms may be associated with an increased POP risk.

Polymorphism of a COLIA1 Gene Sp1 Binding Site in Korean Women with Pelvic Organ Prolapse
PURPOSE To evaluate the possible influence of G-->T substitution at the Sp1-binding site of the COLIA1 gene on the risk of pelvic organ prolapse (POP). MATERIALS AND METHODS The study group consisted of 15 women with advanced stage POP. Fifteen control subjects with uterine myomas among the postmenopausal women were matched for age and parity. DNA was obtained from peripheral blood leukocytes...
متن کاملA COL1A1 Sp1 binding site polymorphism predisposes to osteoporotic fracture by affecting bone density and quality.
Osteoporosis is a common disease with a strong genetic component. We previously described a polymorphic Sp1 binding site in the COL1A1 gene that has been associated with osteoporosis in several populations. Here we explore the molecular mechanisms underlying this association. A meta-analysis showed significant associations between COL1A1 "s" alleles and bone mineral density (BMD), body mass ind...
متن کاملThe incidence of recurrent pelvic organ prolapse: A cross – sectional study
Introduction: Pelvic organ prolapse is a common condition that occurs in parous women and affects the quality of life of women. The present study aimed to evaluate the incidence of recurrent prolapse. Materials and methods: In a cross-sectional study evaluated 365 women attending two public centers of Ilam, West of Iran. Sampling was done by the simple random sampling method. All women parti...
متن کاملSequence variant in the laminin gamma1 (LAMC1) gene associated with familial pelvic organ prolapse.
Pelvic organ prolapse is a common condition, affecting up to a third of women throughout their lifetime. Genetic factors are believed to account for about 30% of the incidence, and are the least understood component of the disorder. Familial cases, particularly those in which prolapse manifests in young women, are especially valuable in the effort to find the genes involved. We recently reporte...
